My Second Life Online
Some things and what we are looking to accomplish about the new website. Primarily we are for the life we live within the virtual worlds that we participate within. Alternate life just didn’t seem to cut the bill and we don’t really live as an alternate anyway. Much like a character actor or show on screen we take or project a persona to a “second life” giving it the features and personality. Now we may have alternates to those and that may be referenced as an alternate life.
This sight is setup and going to be the basis to build on the journey through that second world we take part in. In some cases it’s much like a mirror of the real life we live but sometimes it’s setup and more role play in a game environment. Same as with alternate lives you have the platforms and categories that are used to inhabit them.
Here we will go through and go on a journey along some of the topics starting with what a virtual world is, how role play is done, and even some examples of which type or category to go out and get immersed in a world.
Who am I to do this, well it was just an idea that came to me when I was doing domain searches and realized this wasn’t taken. It got me to thinking that we do live a second life, even if it is more Jane Smith or James Bond style. We may even have the Ward Cleaver or Daisy Duke going on. And that’s if you even know who they are.
I’ve been playing at a second life since I started playing Monopoly at the age of 9. Yes even then and even boards games could in theory be a second life for you. I would play with my family and we’d be in character so to speak to be that aggressor and monopolize the board by owning it all.
Taking that even further and advancing to shows, books, and video games. The entertainment industry gave us the tools by which to plot or put ourselves within those realms to direct or interact. Then I got The Sims, my sister wanted me to learn how to play it so I could teach her. Well I got addicted so much I probably played more in a week than I worked. With my first avatar I got to build the world, define the characters, and create a storyline. Your imagination is literally the only limitation. So when I came up against my limits I browsed others to see what else I could find, then if I liked it enough to bring it into my sims world. That expanded even more when TSO (The Sims Online) went live. Now I could log online and interact with others around the world. We each make our sim (avatar) what we wanted and be who we thought everyone would accept. If that didn’t work you could always delete that one and create a new one. Back then slots and computer space kinda limited what and how many you could make. So who I am is someone who has been playing with a second life since about June/July 2000.
Best,
